Delay

Repeats the audio signal after a set time, creating echoes and rhythmic patterns.

Delay effects capture the audio signal and play it back after a specified time interval. The main parameters are time (delay length, often synced to tempo), feedback (how many times the signal repeats), and mix (wet/dry balance). Stereo delays can have different times for left and right channels, creating width and movement. Ping-pong delay bounces the signal between left and right speakers. Short delays (under 50ms) create doubling and comb filtering effects. Medium delays (100-500ms) produce distinct echoes. Long delays create ambient, spacious textures. Delay is fundamental to genres like dub, techno, and ambient music.
