Reverb

Simulates acoustic space by adding reflections. Creates depth, atmosphere, and a sense of room size.

Reverb is the persistence of sound after the original source has stopped, caused by reflections bouncing off surfaces in a space. In music production, reverb effects simulate these reflections digitally. Key parameters include size (simulated room dimensions), decay/tail (how long reflections persist), pre-delay (gap before first reflections), damping (high-frequency absorption over time), and mix (wet/dry balance). Types include room, hall, plate, spring, and shimmer. Short reverbs add subtle depth and realism. Long reverbs create atmospheric, ethereal spaces. Reverb is essential for placing sounds in a convincing sonic environment and is one of the most-used effects in all music production.
